CBS Studios Alum Partners With ‘Matlock’ Creator to Develop Series
Julie McNamara Returns to CBS Studios
Julie McNamara is making a triumphant return to CBS Studios, where she will be teaming up with Jennie Snyder Urman and her Sutton St. Productions to develop new series for broadcast and streaming platforms. This collaboration comes on the heels of Snyder Urman and Sutton St. Productions renewing their overall deal with CBS Studios, which saw the successful development of the hit series “Matlock.”
After an impressive 15-year stint as head of CBS Studios drama development and Paramount+ programming, McNamara left her role in 2021 to join Spotify as the vice president and head of global podcast studios. During her time at CBS Studios, McNamara played a pivotal role in launching popular shows like “Jane the Virgin,” “Charmed,” “Blue Bloods,” “The Good Wife,” and the “Star Trek” series. Her expertise and keen eye for powerful television have contributed to the success of many culturally significant titles.
“We’re thrilled to have Julie back in the CBS Studios family, partnering once again with Jennie Snyder Urman. Their combined talent and creative vision have produced some of the most successful and resonant series in television history,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Studios.
Under Snyder Urman’s leadership, “Matlock” has become a breakout hit, receiving critical acclaim and earning a second season renewal set to premiere on Oct. 12. Lead actress Kathy Bates was also recognized with an Emmy nomination for her outstanding performance in the series.
