CEO of Denver-based oil company involved in ‘sham investigation’

The Co-founder of Sentinel Peak Resources Sues Former Partner for Defamation

In a shocking turn of events, Michael Duginski, the co-founder of Sentinel Peak Resources, has filed a lawsuit against his former partner, George Ciotti, for defamation. Duginski claims that Ciotti orchestrated a “sham investigation” and spread false rumors about his lifestyle in order to oust him as CEO of the Denver-based energy firm.

Sentinel Peak Resources, which owns $3 billion of oil reserves primarily in California, was on the brink of a possible sale when Duginski was blindsided by a memo in December accusing him of “unacceptable behavior” in the workplace. Despite being placed on leave and undergoing a vague investigation by the company’s board and external law firm, Duginski was never informed of the specific allegations against him.

Ultimately, Duginski was ousted as CEO in May, with the board citing “sufficient grounds” for termination. However, Duginski believes that the entire ordeal was orchestrated by Ciotti, who allegedly wanted to take over as CEO and spread false rumors about Duginski being involved in swinging.

As a result of the defamation and wrongful termination, Duginski is seeking $650,000 in back wages, $3 million in investments, and the value of his company stock from Sentinel Peak. Additionally, he is suing Ciotti for damages caused to his reputation and business opportunities.

Despite the legal battle unfolding, Sentinel Peak’s attorney has remained silent on the matter. Duginski’s legal team, led by Michael Freimann and Mamie Ling, are pushing forward with the case, determined to clear their client’s name and seek justice for the wrongful actions taken against him.
