The Frisco Independent School District has confirmed that it possesses video of the stabbing at Kuykendall Stadium but has chosen not to release it to the public. The incident occurred during a rain delay at a track meet on April 2, where 18-year-old Karmelo Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf after a dispute over space in the Memorial team’s tent. Anthony, a student at Frisco Centennial High School, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing.
According to police reports, the altercation escalated when Anthony grabbed a knife from his bag and stabbed Metcalf after being pushed out of the tent. Witnesses recounted the tragic events, with Metcalf ultimately succumbing to his injuries in his twin brother’s arms. Both Anthony and Metcalf were 17 at the time of the incident, prompting debates over self-defense claims and the appropriate level of response.
After his arrest, Anthony’s bond was initially set at $1 million but was later reduced to $250,000. He was released to home confinement, with his trial scheduled for June 1, 2026. The Frisco Independent School District and Anthony’s attorney have yet to comment on the ongoing case.
