Chicago pastor Corey Brooks says Dems are ‘outright lying’ about crime, calls on Trump to send National Guard

A Chicago pastor is speaking out about the ongoing crime crisis in the city, refuting claims that the situation is improving and calling on President Donald Trump to intervene before the violence escalates further.

Pastor Corey Brooks, who heads Project H.O.O.D., a violence prevention group on Chicago’s South Side, revealed that the community has already witnessed 254 deaths in 233 days, with 80% of the victims being Black boys. Recent statistics from the city’s crime dashboard now show 266 homicides this year, averaging more than one per day.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends,” Brooks emphasized that the notion of things getting better and people being safe in the city is false. He is urging President Trump to deploy the National Guard to Chicago, citing the success of the administration’s recent crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., which resulted in a 12-day period without any homicides.

Brooks believes that state leaders in Illinois are obstructing similar intervention in Chicago for political reasons. He stressed that ensuring the safety of citizens should be a top priority for government officials, but it seems to be lacking in the case of the governor and the mayor.

The pastor criticized Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, both Democrats, for rejecting Trump’s offer of federal assistance. Johnson mentioned during a press conference that they are being targeted for what they represent, while Pritzker warned the president not to come to Chicago.

President Trump, however, expressed his willingness to intervene, stating that he is prepared to address the situation in Chicago. He highlighted the refusal of local leaders to acknowledge the severity of the issue and the problems that need to be addressed.

Brooks emphasized that the violence in Chicago is deeply personal to the community, with mothers still burying their young sons prematurely due to the ongoing crime. He underscored the need for action and for the voices of the affected community to be heard.

While acknowledging that the National Guard deployment would be a temporary solution, Brooks believes it could provide a much-needed respite in the cycle of violence. He emphasized the importance of organizations like his continuing to work towards long-term solutions and support for the community.

In conclusion, Brooks made it clear that silence is not an option in the face of the ongoing crisis in Chicago. He urged the community to speak out and take a stand against the violence, emphasizing the need for action and accountability from local leaders.
