Christian Singer Stacie Orrico Sues Ex-Manager for Alleged Childhood Sexual Abuse

Stacie Orrico, a former Christian music singer, has recently filed a lawsuit against her ex-manager, Britt Ham, and Universal Music Group, alleging sexual abuse during her teenage years. The lawsuit claims that Ham began touching Orrico inappropriately when she was just 14 years old, and members of her label did nothing to stop it.

Orrico stated that Ham would get her alone under the guise of daily Bible study, emphasizing the importance of secrecy to protect her Christian image after allegedly sexually assaulting her. The abuse escalated when Orrico traveled to Los Angeles with Ham in July 2001 for concert rehearsals. During this time, Orrico claims that Ham kissed her, touched her genitals, and engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with her.

The lawsuit further alleges that Ham repeated these behaviors during another stay at the same hotel the following month. Shockingly, Orrico claims that Ham had penetrative sex with her when she was just 17 years old in 2003. The abuse was known to other defendants in the lawsuit, including Electric and Music Industries label executives Greg Ham and Eddie DeGarmo. EMI was later purchased by Universal Music Group, which is why Orrico is suing them as well.

Orrico also revealed that Greg Ham informed her parents about the inappropriate relationship between her and Britt Ham. DeGarmo allegedly knew about the misconduct in 2002 but blamed Orrico for the relationship, suggesting it could jeopardize her career. Orrico is suing for childhood sexual abuse, sexual battery, negligence, and more.

The singer-songwriter’s brave decision to come forward with her story sheds light on the disturbing reality of sexual abuse within the music industry. The lawsuit seeks justice for Orrico and holds accountable those who failed to protect her from harm. As the legal proceedings unfold, the public waits for a response from Britt Ham and hopes for a resolution that brings closure and healing to Stacie Orrico.
