Chrysler recalls almost 164,000 Jeep vehicles over door trim issue

Chrysler Issues Recall for Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs

Chrysler has announced a recall of 163,735 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs due to a safety issue involving the trim on the driver and passenger doors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlighted the concern that the trim could detach while the vehicle is in motion, posing a potential road hazard for other vehicles and increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall affects vehicles from model years 2022 through 2025. Owners of the affected vehicles will have the trim inspected and replaced by dealers at no cost. The NHTSA emphasized that this recall is related to a vehicle assembly issue rather than a defect in the trim itself.

As of August 29, Chrysler, which is owned by Stellantis, has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue. However, the company has noted 405 warranty claims, three field reports, and 112 service records that could be linked to the problem.

Stellantis has not yet provided a comment in response to inquiries from CBS News. Owners of the affected Jeep Wagoneer vehicles can expect to receive notification letters regarding the recall by October 31. For more information, they can contact Chrysler’s customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

It is crucial for owners of these vehicles to address this recall promptly to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road. Stay informed about recalls and safety issues related to your vehicle to prevent any potential risks.
