Chuck E. Cheese Mascot’s Arrest In Costume Goes Viral
In a shocking turn of events, a Chuck E. Cheese mascot was handcuffed by Florida police in front of children at the restaurant’s Tallahassee location on Wednesday night. The mascot, identified as Jermel Jones, 41, was accused of credit card fraud and subsequently booked on felony charges.
The arrest came after a victim reported unauthorized charges on her Visa debit card, which she last used at Chuck E. Cheese during her child’s birthday party. The charges included purchases at smoke shops and Whataburger, prompting the police to investigate.

The victim identified Jones in video footage from one of the stores, leading to his apprehension at Chuck E. Cheese. Officers noted Jones’ nervous behavior and eventually found the victim’s card in his possession.
Despite denying the charges, Jones was taken into custody and later released on bail. Chuck E. Cheese’s parent company, CEC Entertainment, confirmed that appropriate action had been taken regarding the employee.
The incident sparked controversy as photos and videos of Jones’ arrest circulated online. Many questioned the police’s decision to arrest a mascot in front of children, with some resorting to humor in their comments.
Police spokesperson Alicia Hill acknowledged the unusual circumstances of the arrest, stating that it was unfortunate that Jones, the subject of the investigation, happened to be in costume at the time.
