Korean Entertainment Powerhouse CJ ENM Partners with Shahid for Major Content Deal

Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM has announced a significant content partnership with Shahid, the largest Arabic-language streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa region. This collaboration is part of CJ ENM’s global expansion strategy and marks the company’s entry into the MENA streaming market.

Starting June 19, Shahid will debut 20 premium Korean series from CJ ENM’s catalog, including popular titles like “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” “Mouse,” and “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.” This move is aimed at reaching Shahid’s extensive regional user base and establishing a presence in the Arabic-speaking entertainment landscape.

Sebastian Kim, VP of International Content Business at CJ ENM, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Korean dramas have gained immense popularity worldwide for their high production quality and engaging storytelling. CJ ENM’s series have already resonated with global audiences, and we are thrilled to introduce our content to the MENA region through Shahid.”

As CJ ENM celebrates its 30th anniversary, the company is expanding its international footprint with recent deals in Mexico and nominations at prestigious awards shows. Tarek Alibrahim, GM of MBC1 and MBC Drama, and GM of content at Shahid, emphasized the platform’s commitment to offering diverse and world-class entertainment to viewers.

Founded in 1995, CJ ENM is home to renowned production studios like Studio Dragon and Fifth Season. The company also operates Korea’s leading streaming platform Tving and produces popular events such as KCON and the MAMA music awards. CJ ENM’s diverse portfolio includes award-winning films, hit series, and talent development projects like K-pop group Zerobaseone.
