Claire Danes, Ewan McGregor to Lead ‘The Spot’ at Hulu
Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor have been announced as the lead actors in Hulu’s upcoming drama series, “The Spot,” which is being developed by screenwriter Ed Solomon. The series is a collaboration between A24 and 20th Television.
Danes’ involvement in the project comes after Kate Winslet departed in June due to creative variances. Winslet, known for her work on HBO’s “The Regime” and “Mare of Easttown,” was set to executive produce the series through her Juggle Productions banner.
“The Spot” follows the story of a successful surgeon and her schoolteacher husband who begin to suspect the surgeon’s involvement in a child’s hit-and-run accident, leading to a series of challenges that test their marriage.
Ed Solomon, who is known for his work on HBO Max’s “Full Circle,” serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for “The Spot.” He has previously collaborated with director Steven Soderbergh on various projects, including the art-world comedy feature “The Christophers.”
In addition to Solomon, Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman are also on board as executive producers, with Kleiman taking on the role of director for the series.
Danes and McGregor were previously set to collaborate over 20 years ago on Jodie Foster’s circus drama “Flora Plum.” Danes will next be seen starring alongside Matthew Rhys in Netflix’s miniseries “The Beast Inside Me,” following her Emmy-nominated performance in FX’s “Fleishman Is in Trouble.” McGregor, on the other hand, recently starred in Paramount+’s “A Gentlemen in Moscow,” which earned him Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominations. He also won an Emmy in 2021 for his role in Netflix’s “Halston” and is set to lead Warner Bros.’ upcoming sci-fi film “Flowervale Street.”
The anticipation for “The Spot” is high, with fans eager to see Danes and McGregor’s on-screen chemistry in this intriguing and suspenseful series. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly-anticipated project.
