Colombia Boosts Tax Incentive for 2026
Colombia’s Film Commission at Proimágenes Colombia has announced a significant increase in their CINA incentive program, raising the budget to $90 million. This marks a 49% boost from the previous year’s allocation of $60 million, which was fully utilized by September due to the influx of major projects filming in Colombia.
The CINA incentive offers a 35% transferable tax credit on expenditures for various audiovisual services in Colombia, including feature films, series, music videos, video games, animation, post-production, and advertising. Since its inception, the program has supported over 165 international projects, attracting more than $861 million in investment and creating over 130,000 direct jobs. This success has positioned Colombia as a leading destination for filmmakers in Latin America.
In 2025, 32 projects were approved under the CINA program, with participation from renowned studios such as Disney+, Sony Pictures, Paramount, Netflix, and Amazon. These projects brought in an estimated $188 million in investment, further solidifying Colombia’s reputation as a competitive location for audiovisual productions.
Silvia Echeverri, the head of the Colombia Film Commission, emphasized the country’s commitment to becoming a strategic partner for large-scale projects. The increase in the 2026 CINA allocation is a testament to the confidence international producers have in Colombia’s talent, diverse locations, and incentive system.
Notable productions that have contributed to Colombia’s growing reputation in the industry include “The Night Manager” Season 2, “The Last Photograph,” “Titan” (formerly known as “Snake”), and “Sierra Madre.” The tax incentives, coupled with the influx of high-profile projects, have elevated Colombia’s audiovisual infrastructure and talent pool.
The positive impact of audiovisual production on Colombia’s economy is evident, with over 570,000 hotel nights and 30,000 airline tickets generated by incentivized projects. This has benefited tourism and services across the country, with productions now spanning 24 departments and 153 municipalities, showcasing a broad regional impact.
Overall, the success of Colombia’s CINA program highlights the country’s potential as a leading destination for international filmmakers. With a robust incentive system and a growing portfolio of high-caliber projects, Colombia is well-positioned to continue attracting top-tier productions in the years to come.
