Colorado brewers win 29 medals at U.S. Open Beer Championship 2025

Colorado breweries had a strong showing at the 2025 U.S. Open Beer Championship, with the Bull & Bush Brewery leading the way by winning the Grand National Champion title. The competition, which featured over 8,000 entries, saw Colorado beer makers take home a total of 29 awards – including five gold medals, 12 silver, and 12 bronze. While this was a slight decrease from the previous year’s 38 accolades, Colorado breweries still made a significant impact.

Bull & Bush Brewery, located at 4700 Cherry Creek Drive South in Glendale, took home three gold medals for their Pimp My Rye beer, Royal Oil barrel-aged strong beer, and Nappy Nap Time tea beer. With an additional silver and bronze medal, they secured the Grand National Champion title.

Other notable winners included River North Brewery in Denver, Liquid Mechanics Brewing Co. in Lafayette, and Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs, each earning multiple medals. Colorado breweries excelled in the American IPA category, with New Terrain Brewing Co. and Cellar West Brewery standing out.

The U.S. Open Beer Championship is unique in that it allows home brewers to compete alongside professionals. Castle Rock resident Christopher Burgess capitalized on this opportunity, winning a silver medal in the Brut IPA category.
