Colorado Golf Club sued by Denver CEO over ban, business deal

A Denver Businessman’s Legal Battle with Colorado Golf Club

A Denver businessman is embroiled in a legal dispute with the Colorado Golf Club in Parker after being accused of breaking in and stealing liquor during a lunch meeting with prospective buyers of his supplement company. The incident allegedly led to the scuttling of the company’s sale, which was valued at multiple eight figures.

The businessman, Brian Straight, who owns Kiss Nutraceuticals in Denver, claims he was unjustly banished from the club by the manager, Cole Evans. Evans alleges that Straight threatened to call law enforcement to escort him off the property.

According to Evans, the altercation occurred after a series of meetings with the buyers, which included attending a Nuggets playoff game and drinks at the Colorado Golf Club. Evans, who is a member of the club, invited two club employees to discuss business ventures at the cottages before being invited back to the clubhouse for a drink.

Despite believing that his actions were sanctioned by the club, Evans was approached by Straight the next day during lunch and removed from the premises. The club’s attorney, Linda Knight, maintains that the board acted appropriately based on Evans’ conduct and in accordance with the club’s membership plan and bylaws.

Evans, however, argues that he was not provided a hearing before his removal, in violation of club rules. He is seeking reinstatement as a member of the Colorado Golf Club and unspecified damages for the impact on his business sale and dues paid while appealing his expulsion.

In addition to the legal battle with the club, Evans and Kiss have faced other legal challenges in recent years, including a lawsuit by a lender and accusations of misrepresenting hand sanitizer production. Despite these setbacks, Evans remains determined to fight for his rights in the ongoing dispute with the Colorado Golf Club.
