Comcast lays off 302 positions in Centennial

Comcast Corp., the owner of Xfinity, the nation’s largest cable TV and broadband provider, has announced plans to cut 302 positions at its West Division office in Centennial by the end of the year. The company, a major employer in the state, will be closing its West Division headquarters as part of a larger restructuring that includes the elimination of all three divisional headquarters.

Elizabeth Peetz, Comcast’s vice president of state government affairs, stated in a letter to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment that the West Division operating division will be dissolved in 2026, leading to the closure of the Centennial facility and the layoff of approximately 302 employees. The positions being cut include financial analysts, vice presidents, finance managers, and various communications and government relations roles.

Despite these changes, Comcast plans to maintain its regional and operational presence, with minimal impact on customers. The company is committed to relocating affected employees to other positions within the organization and offering severance benefits to those who cannot be placed elsewhere.

Comcast’s CEO and COO announced the decision to eliminate the three divisions in September, with the Centennial office previously overseeing activities in several states in the Western region. Moving forward, metro Denver will serve as the hub for the Mountain West Division, which includes Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado.

Under the new structure, regions will report directly to Amy Lynch, the President of Regional Operations, who will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This streamlined approach aims to improve decision-making, data utilization, and operational efficiency.

Comcast emphasized that the restructuring is not a reflection of employee performance but a strategic move to enhance competitiveness and prepare for the future. The company remains committed to its community partnerships and has invested significantly in technology and infrastructure in Colorado.

Additionally, Comcast is collaborating with the state to provide matching funds for the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program, which aims to expand high-speed internet access in underserved areas. These initiatives demonstrate Comcast’s ongoing commitment to innovation and community development.
