Conservative Infighting Between Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson Explodes At AmericaFest
At Turning Point USA’s annual event, conservative influencers clashed over how to combat rising antisemitism and bigotry within the Republican Party. The gathering, known as AmericaFest, took place in Phoenix and marked the first major event since Charlie Kirk’s tragic death earlier in the year. The rift among conservatives reflects the deeper divisions within the party, especially as younger members show support for figures like Nick Fuentes, a white supremacist and Holocaust denier.
During the event, prominent conservative commentator Ben Shapiro criticized fellow Republicans for promoting conspiracy theories and antisemitism. He singled out Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Steve Bannon for their controversial views and associations.
The disagreements escalated as media personalities like Carlson, Bannon, and Kelly pushed back against Shapiro’s remarks. The tension highlighted the ongoing struggles within the Republican Party to address issues of bigotry and extremism.
Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also condemned the concept of “Heritage American,” which he views as a discriminatory term used to marginalize immigrants. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity and denounced the bigotry he has faced, including Fuentes’ antisemitism.
Vice President JD Vance downplayed concerns raised by Shapiro and Ramaswamy, further underscoring the party’s internal conflicts on these issues. The discord at the event mirrored recent spats among Republicans, including controversies surrounding figures like Carlson and Owens.
Overall, the event showcased a divided conservative movement grappling with issues of antisemitism, bigotry, and extremism. Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk framed the debates as a healthy exchange of ideas, likening the atmosphere to a contentious Thanksgiving dinner.
