Cops hunting fugitive dad Travis Decker think he may be dead
Authorities in Washington are continuing their search for Travis Decker, the fugitive father accused of murdering his three young daughters. The tragic incident occurred last month, when the bodies of Evelyn, 8, Olivia, 5, and Paityn, 9, were found with plastic bags over their heads and zip ties around their wrists near their father’s abandoned pickup truck.
Despite the extensive search efforts, authorities now believe that Decker may be deceased. Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Monday indicating that there is no definite evidence of Decker’s whereabouts. As a result, cadaver dogs have been brought in to assist in the search operation.
The search for Decker spans across various areas, including Blewett Pass, Lauderdale, Liberty, and Teenaway Valley. Sheriff Mike Morrison of Chelan County mentioned that U.S. Marshals are following up on leads, and joint operations with Kittitas County are ongoing. Additional air operations are planned, with specialized search teams being inserted into more inaccessible areas. A cadaver dog will also be deployed this week to aid in the search efforts.
The possibility of Decker being deceased in the rugged wilderness is being considered by authorities. The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office stated that resources are being redirected to find and recover Decker if this scenario proves to be true. This grim possibility is increasing daily, highlighting the urgency of the search operation.
Meanwhile, Whitney Decker, the girls’ mother, spoke publicly about the tragic loss of her children for the first time at a memorial service on June 20. She expressed her hope that the legacy of her daughters’ lives would be remembered forever, emphasizing their incredible nature.
