Costco now sells Ozempic and Wegovy at its pharmacies

Costco has recently announced that customers can now purchase weight loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy at their drugstores at discounted prices. Novo Nordisk, the pharmaceutical company behind these drugs, revealed that these medications are now available at Costco pharmacies across the United States. A one-month supply of Ozempic and Wegovy at Costco will cost $499, the same price as listed on Novo Nordisk’s direct-to-consumer website, CVS, and Walmart.

Typically, these weight loss drugs retail for around $1,300 and $1,600, respectively. Costco Executive members and Costco Citibank Visa cardholders will receive an additional 2% discount on these medications. It is important to note that a prescription is still required to obtain Ozempic and Wegovy at Costco.

In a statement, Dave Moore, the Executive Vice President for Novo Nordisk’s U.S. Operations, expressed the company’s commitment to making these medications more accessible and affordable to consumers. Ozempic is designed for adults with Type 2 diabetes to help lower blood sugar levels and reduce heart and kidney problems. On the other hand, Wegovy, which has been FDA-approved for weight loss, can also be used to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in certain patients.

This collaboration between Novo Nordisk and Costco aims to make these medications more convenient for people to access where they already shop. The availability of Ozempic and Wegovy at Costco provides an opportunity for individuals looking to manage their weight and improve their overall health.

Costco’s decision to offer these weight loss drugs at discounted prices reflects a growing trend in making healthcare more accessible and affordable to consumers. With the rise in obesity rates and related health issues, initiatives like these can play a significant role in promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing the burden of chronic diseases.
