Country singer Conner Smith, 24, kills woman in alleged crosswalk car accident

Country singer Conner Smith has been involved in a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a 77-year-old woman in Nashville over the weekend. The incident occurred when Smith, 24, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and allegedly struck the woman as she was walking in a crosswalk. The victim, identified as Dorothy Dobbins, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later passed away from her injuries.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicates that Smith failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. However, he showed no signs of impairment at the time of the accident. As of now, no charges have been filed against Smith, but the investigation is ongoing.

Smith’s attorney has confirmed the singer’s involvement in the accident and expressed his condolences to Dobbins’ family. The Nashville native, signed to Big Machine Records’ Valory label, released his debut album “Didn’t Go Too Far” last year. He has opened for Luke Bryan on tour and was nominated for New Male Artist of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards.

In addition to his music career, Smith’s tracks have gained popularity on TikTok, with his single “Country in the Clouds” becoming a viral hit. He is also featured on the soundtrack of the film “Twisters.” Married to surfer Leah Thompson since April 2024, Smith is currently on tour and has upcoming live performances scheduled across the country this summer.

Despite the tragic incident, Smith shared an Instagram post on the day of the accident, showcasing photos of him performing onstage with the caption “Hometown hits different ❤️.” While the details of the accident continue to unfold, Smith remains cooperative with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
