‘Crazy eyes’ Uber driver who pulled a gun on passenger arrested: cops

A Florida Uber driver with a reputation for her “crazy eyes” was recently arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on a passenger during a ride. The incident, which was caught on camera, led to the driver, Jennifer Benitez, being detained by police in Port St. Lucie.

Body camera footage obtained by 7News Miami shows the intense moment when police pulled over Benitez’s vehicle on May 17, just days after the disturbing encounter in Miami. The officers can be seen instructing Benitez to step out of the car with her hands up, as they point their guns at her vehicle and give her commands.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Benitez displayed a defiant attitude during the arrest. When asked about the outstanding warrant for her arrest, she simply stated, “I have the right to remain silent.” She even snapped at an officer who was frisking her, questioning their methods.

Benitez was ultimately taken into custody and later appeared in bond court on May 21, where she was charged with aggravated assault. She is currently being held in Broward County Jail with a bond set at $7,500.

The arrest came after Miami rapper Krissy Celess, also known as Kristel Omier, reported an alarming incident involving Benitez. During a late-night Uber ride, Benitez allegedly threatened Omier and another passenger, ultimately pulling a gun on them. Omier shared a video of the incident on Instagram, where Benitez can be seen brandishing the weapon.

Omier recalled feeling uneasy during the ride, particularly noting Benitez’s intense gaze. She mentioned that a comment she made about Benitez’s eyes may have triggered the driver’s aggressive behavior. The rapper expressed her concern for her son’s safety during the frightening ordeal.

Following the incident, Uber promptly removed Benitez’s access to the app and launched an investigation into the matter. The company emphasized that drivers are strictly prohibited from carrying firearms while on duty, in accordance with their guidelines.
