Regina and I have been friends for a long time, and she’s always been someone I admired and respected. When the opportunity arose to work together on “The Better Sister,” it just felt like the perfect fit. Our collaboration was seamless, and I think our shared history and mutual respect for each other’s work really helped us bring this project to life.

What was it about Alafair Burke’s book that drew you both to adapt it for television?

Regina Corrado: Alafair Burke’s book was such a gripping and compelling read. The complex relationships between the characters, the layers of secrets and lies, and the ultimate twist at the end all made it a perfect candidate for adaptation. We were both drawn to the story because it had all the elements of a great psychological thriller, and we knew we could bring it to life in a way that would keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Do you have any theories about who killed Jake in the final moments of the series?

Olivia Milch: We purposely left Jake’s murder open-ended to leave room for interpretation. There are so many possibilities and potential suspects that it’s really up to the audience to decide who they think did it. It’s a question that we intentionally left unanswered to keep the mystery alive and leave viewers wanting more.

Do you believe that Chloe and Nicky truly got away with murder, or will their past come back to haunt them in future seasons?

Regina Corrado: While Chloe and Nicky may have escaped immediate consequences for Adam’s murder, their actions have set off a chain of events that will likely come back to haunt them in future seasons. And it’s only by coming back together that they were ever able to move forward. They were always going to be entwined in each other’s lives. They were always going to be responsible for each other.

Corrado: The whole point of the show is that these two sisters are the only people who can save each other, who can understand each other, and who can really be honest with each other. Their love is the only thing that can save them from the mess that they’ve been in. And that is always going to be the case. They are never going to be free of each other. They are always going to be a part of each other. They are always going to have to be responsible for each other. And they are always going to have to be there for each other. That’s the central relationship of the show.

Corrado: We would love nothing more than to continue telling the story of these characters and exploring the world we’ve created. There are definitely more stories to be told and loose ends to be tied up, so we’re hopeful that we will have the opportunity to do so in a second season.

Milch: We have so much more to uncover and reveal about these characters and their lives. There is still so much left unsaid and unexplored, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we get the chance to continue their journey.
