Dallas ICE shooting latest: Sniper allegedly left behind note saying he wanted to bring ‘terror’ to agents

The recent shooting at the Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office has sent shockwaves through the community. The sniper responsible for the attack, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, left behind a chilling note expressing his desire to instill fear in ICE agents. The handwritten message referenced using armor-piercing bullets to create terror among the agents, indicating a premeditated and calculated plan.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, Jahn had been conducting searches on apps that track ICE agents and had downloaded a document listing DHS facilities. He had also been researching ballistics and watching a video titled “Charlie Kirk Shot Video” in the days leading up to the attack. This evidence suggests a high level of planning and intent on Jahn’s part.

The shooting took place on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of one ICE detainee and critical injuries to two others. The detainees were being loaded out of a van when the gunfire erupted, with some still inside the vehicle when the shots were fired. ICE agents bravely ran back into the line of fire to bring the remaining detainees to safety, potentially saving more lives in the process.

While no officers were injured in the attack, the Department of Homeland Security has labeled it as an “attack on ICE law enforcement.” Recovered bullets, including one engraved with the phrase “ANTI-ICE,” and a photo showing a gunshot in an American flag display further highlight the targeted nature of the violence.

Vice President JD Vance has described the shooter as a “left-wing extremist” who was politically motivated to target those enforcing border security. The FBI is treating the shooting as an act of targeted violence, and acting ICE Director Todd Lyons has announced heightened security measures at all ICE facilities in response to the incident.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers and the importance of supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. Our thoughts are with the victims of the shooting and their families during this difficult time.
