DuBrovin’s journey began when she struggled with migraines as a child and found solace in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. She eventually discovered Soo Bahk Do under the guidance of Master John Kim at Studio Moodo in Westhampton. Kim recognized her potential and fast-tracked her training to pursue a black belt before graduating high school.

With rigorous training that included intense drills and strengthening exercises, DuBrovin demonstrated exceptional commitment to her martial arts practice. Her dedication to Soo Bahk Do not only helped her achieve the coveted black belt but also enhanced her academic performance and overall well-being.

Balancing her academic workload, which included 14 AP classes, with martial arts training proved to be a rewarding experience for DuBrovin. She credits her training for sharpening her focus, improving her time management skills, and enabling her to excel in various aspects of her life.

DuBrovin’s remarkable journey culminated in a challenging test for her black belt, which required her to showcase her skills in punches, kicks, Hyung routines, and a written essay. Despite the physical and mental demands of the test, DuBrovin emerged successful, showcasing her determination and resilience.

Looking ahead, DuBrovin plans to continue her martial arts training in college and hopes to join a martial arts club on campus. She remains grateful to Master Kim for his mentorship and support, as he has played a significant role in her personal growth and development.
