An upstate man was arrested in New York City on Saturday after making threats to use firebombs at a “No Kings” protest to attack ICE agents, according to police reports. David Cox, 54, was apprehended on terrorism charges after boasting to a bystander at a gas station in Owego Village about his intentions.

The bystander reported the threat to authorities, leading to Cox’s arrest the following day after his car was identified by a license plate reader. Despite the claims, no firebombs or weapons were found in his vehicle.

Arrest and Charges

David Cox was charged with making a terroristic threat, false report of terrorism, and making a threat of mass harm. His intentions to use violence at the protest raised concerns among law enforcement agencies.

“No Kings” Protest

The “No Kings” protest saw tens of thousands of protesters gather in Manhattan and other parts of the country to voice their opposition to President Trump. Around 100,000 individuals participated in the Midtown rally, with no reported arrests by the NYPD.

Protesters also criticized ICE during the demonstration, drawing parallels between the federal agency and the KKK.
