Daytime Emmys Announce 2025 Nominations
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is gearing up for the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, set to take place this year in October. The nominations are slowly being revealed, with categories such as daytime drama series, daytime talk series, lead actor, and lead actress in a daytime drama series being announced on Wednesday. Additional categories including instructional series, travel or adventure program, lifestyle program, and instructional/how-to program will also be unveiled.
The decision to move the Daytime Emmys to October was part of NATAS’s realignment of its biggest shows. Last year, “General Hospital” took home the top daytime drama award for the fourth consecutive year. Legendary actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke also made history by winning the 2024 Daytime Emmy award for guest performer in a daytime drama series at the age of 98, making him the oldest actor to receive such an honor.
The eligibility window for this year’s Daytime Emmys was between Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024, which means CBS’ new soap opera “Beyond the Gates” is not included in the nominations as it premiered in 2025. This year’s competition features new categories such as Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Program, Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series, Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series, Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program, and Outstanding Nature and Science Program.
NATAS has also introduced the “Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre” award, which is not Emmy-eligible but recognizes regional program winners in various categories. The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held at a single ceremony this year, instead of a separate Creative Arts ceremony.
NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp expressed excitement about recognizing the exceptional individuals and teams in daytime television, as well as introducing new categories to acknowledge boundary-pushing work. Executive producers for the event include Sharp, Lisa Armstrong, and Rachel Schwartz as the Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. With the Daytime landscape continuing to expand, the ceremony promises to celebrate the entire Daytime community in one grand event.
