Decomposing leg belonging to missing pedophile found in Tennessee creek
A dismembered leg found in a Tennessee creek on the Fourth of July has been identified as belonging to Joseph Frank Benton, a wanted criminal facing multiple charges. Benton has been missing since he was charged with unlawful possession of weapons, explosives, and sexual exploitation of a minor in 2024. He is also facing additional charges for violating his probation.
The leg was discovered in Sulphur Fork Creek, located in Robertson County, just outside of Springfield, where Benton was last known to reside. Before going missing, Benton was involved in a cold case concerning the disappearance of Jennifer Wix and her daughter Adrianna in 2004. Wix, who briefly lived with the Benton family, disappeared along with her daughter, but their bodies were never found.
It was reported that Wix had called her mother on the day she went missing, mentioning an argument with someone from the Benton family. Benton was last seen with a disheveled appearance, with some speculating that he may have severed his own leg to evade capture.
Some online commentators have suggested that Benton may have met a violent end, with one user theorizing that someone may have taken matters into their own hands. The case remains unresolved, with the discovery of Benton’s leg bringing new attention to the long-standing mystery surrounding the disappearance of Jennifer Wix and her daughter.
