Denver’s Angi Inc. cuts 350 jobs amid AI-driven efficiency push
Denver-Based Angi Inc. Implements Layoffs and Embraces Artificial Intelligence
Angi Inc., a Denver-based home services company, recently announced a significant restructuring that includes the elimination of approximately 350 global positions. This move is part of Angi’s initiative to enhance operational efficiency through the integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
Located in Denver’s River North Art District, Angi disclosed in a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission its plans to incur restructuring charges of $22 million to $30 million associated with the layoffs. These expenses, related to severance packages and other benefits, will be incurred in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, resulting in cash outflows.
The company anticipates annual savings of $70-80 million in operating and capital expenses following the restructuring. Since its establishment in 1995, Angi has been connecting homeowners with a wide range of home professionals across more than 500 categories, facilitating services from home repairs and renovations to cleaning and landscaping.
Despite not issuing a public notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, some local employees have been affected by the layoffs. LinkedIn posts reveal the impact on colleagues, including software engineers, a content and marketing director, and a client success manager.
As of December 31, 2024, Angi had a global workforce of around 2,800 employees. While the exact number of job cuts in the Denver area remains unspecified, a company spokesperson stated that the layoffs were spread over several weeks in January and represent only a small portion of Angi’s overall workforce.
The restructuring aligns with Angi’s increased reliance on artificial intelligence tools. The company launched an “AI Helper” tool last June, aimed at simplifying the process of connecting homeowners with top-quality service professionals. This AI-powered feature streamlines communication between homeowners and service providers, enhancing the overall home improvement experience.
Angi’s commitment to innovation is evident through its continuous integration of AI across various operational aspects. The company’s shareholder letter highlighted the development of a robust AI department and the incorporation of AI in coding, design, product development, and sales prospect identification.
By leveraging artificial intelligence, Angi aims to streamline its processes, enhance customer experiences, and adapt to evolving market demands. As the company celebrates 30 years of innovation, its focus on AI technologies underscores a strategic shift towards a more efficient and customer-centric approach.
