Depraved NYC mom busted for keeping 14-year-old twin sons under house arrest, starving them for 9 years

A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in the Bronx, where a mother has been arrested for allegedly keeping her twin sons captive in their home for nearly a decade. Lissette Soto Domenech, 64, is accused of starving the boys and depriving them of essential care and education.

The shocking discovery was made when a child protective specialist received several anonymous complaints and visited the family’s home on Mosholu Avenue. The specialist immediately called 911 after witnessing the dire conditions in which the boys were living. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the twins, now 14 years old, were severely malnourished and underweight, with one weighing only 54 pounds and the other 51 pounds.

One of the boys is autistic and had never received proper evaluation or services. The apartment where they were kept contained only infant cereal, baby bottles, and toddler toys, indicating a complete lack of age-appropriate items. The boys were rushed to Montefiore Children’s Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where they remained for three months.

Neighbors of the family expressed shock and disbelief at the allegations, with some recalling interactions with the father, who recently passed away. The father, who had a strained relationship with Domenech, reportedly wanted to keep the children home because he believed the world was dangerous. He was described as a loving father who was proud of his sons.

Domenech is facing charges of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, and offering a false instrument for filing. Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone set her bail at $25,000 cash or $75,000 bond. District Attorney Darcel Clark condemned the alleged abuse, stating that every effort would be made to help the boys recover and lead a normal life.

The case has shocked the community and raised questions about the need for vigilance in reporting suspected cases of child abuse. Domenech is scheduled to appear in court again on February 4, where further details of the case will be revealed. The welfare of the boys remains a top priority as they begin the long road to recovery from their traumatic ordeal.
