Disney settles Gina Carano’s lawsuit after firing her from ‘Mandalorian’ for comparing being conservative in US to being Jewish in Nazi Germany

After a lengthy legal battle, Walt Disney has reached a settlement with Gina Carano, the martial artist-turned-actress who was fired for comparing conservatism in the US to being Jewish in Nazi Germany.

The lawsuit was filed by Carano in 2024, three years after she made controversial social media posts while working on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” which is linked to the “Star Wars” franchise.

In her lawsuit backed by Elon Musk, Carano claimed that Disney and Lucasfilm terminated her contract for expressing conservative views that male stars had previously shared without facing consequences.

A spokesperson for Lucasfilm stated that Carano was always well-respected by her colleagues and that they look forward to working with her in the future.

Details of the settlement have not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain whether Carano’s character will be reintroduced in “The Mandalorian” or any other “Star Wars” series.

Carano expressed gratitude for the outcome of the lawsuit and thanked Musk for his support.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children,” Carano wrote on Instagram. Instagram

Carano’s controversial Instagram post in 2021 compared the persecution of Jews during World War II to the treatment of conservatives in the US political climate.

Social media posts by Carano also revealed her promotion of debunked conspiracy theories related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 presidential election.

As a result of the controversy, Carano was swiftly removed from “The Mandalorian,” where she portrayed the character Cara Dune.

Despite the legal battle, Carano expressed humility and gratitude for the outcome.
