‘Doctor Odyssey’ Canceled at ABC After One Season

ABC Cancels “Doctor Odyssey” After One Season

After much speculation, ABC has officially pulled the plug on the medical drama “Doctor Odyssey” after just one season. Created by Ryan Murphy, the show was the only scripted series on the network that had not received a renewal or cancellation announcement since April. Unfortunately, the cast’s contracts have now expired with no plans from ABC to bring the series back for another season.

The cancellation news also comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed by three former crew members against Disney and 20th Television. The lawsuit alleges that the studio allowed a culture of sexual harassment to persist, with assistant prop master Tyler Patton accused of inappropriate behavior including making sexual jokes, gestures, and unwanted touching.

Starring Joshua Jackson as Dr. Max Bankman, the series followed a team of medical professionals on a luxury cruise ship called the Odyssey as they dealt with complex medical emergencies at sea. The ensemble cast also included Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale, and Don Johnson in key roles.

In addition to the main cast, “Doctor Odyssey” featured recurring roles played by Jacqueline Toboni, Marcus Emanuel Mitchell, Rick Cosnett, and Laura Harrier. The show also boasted a lineup of impressive guest stars like Rachel Dratch, Shania Twain, and Angela Bassett.

Produced by 20th Television in collaboration with Ryan Murphy Television, the series was created by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. The show’s executive producers included Jackson, Johnson, and a team of seasoned industry professionals.
