Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s daughter, Ava Raine, slammed online for insensitive comments made hours after Charlie Kirk’s assassination
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter, Ava Raine, found herself in hot water after making a controversial comment that seemed to be aimed at Charlie Kirk shortly after his tragic assassination. Raine, a 24-year-old WWE wrestler, shared a post on her Instagram story from comedian Gianmarco Soresi that read, “If you want people to have kind words when you pass, you should say kind things when you’re alive.”
Despite not directly mentioning Kirk, Raine added her own comment in a repost on her X account, stating, “and I’ll stand behind this. Be kind, now more than ever.” Her words, shared just hours after Kirk was assassinated in front of a crowd at Utah Valley University, quickly sparked outrage among WWE fans online.
Critics called out Raine for her insensitive remark, with one user questioning if WWE and TKO Group, where Raine is associated, supported her statement. Some fans even suggested that Raine, being the daughter of a famous figure, may not face the same consequences for her words as others would.
In the wake of Kirk’s assassination, several individuals who made insensitive comments about his death have faced repercussions. The Carolina Panthers fired their football communications coordinator for an insensitive social media post, while MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd was let go for making inappropriate remarks during coverage of the tragedy. The Joe Burrow Foundation and a New York school cop also faced consequences for their comments.
On the other hand, some have chosen to honor Kirk’s legacy. The New York Yankees and the Jets paid tribute to Kirk before their respective games, while some NFL teams held moments of silence in his memory. However, a few teams opted not to observe a moment of silence, as the league gave individual teams the autonomy to decide on how to remember Kirk moving forward.
The alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, is expected to face charges of aggravated murder in connection with Kirk’s death. Authorities believe Robinson acted alone, and in Utah, aggravated murder is the only crime that carries the possibility of the death penalty.
In the aftermath of this tragic event, it is crucial for individuals to choose their words carefully and show compassion towards others, especially in times of grief and loss. The repercussions of making insensitive remarks can have far-reaching consequences, highlighting the importance of empathy and kindness in our interactions with one another.
