DWF Labs’ Andrei Grachev Challenges Near Protocol to Cut Inflation of NEAR By 50% To Attract More Investment

Andrei Grachev, a high-ranking executive at DWF Labs, has presented a challenge to the core developers of Near Protocol (NEAR) by proposing a reduction in the token’s inflation rate from 5 percent to 2.5 percent. In a recent post on X, Grachev urged the core developers to consider this adjustment in order to enhance the long-term prospects of the project.

Grachev emphasized the substantial stake that DWF Labs currently holds in NEAR tokens, with 5 million tokens already in possession and an additional 6 million tokens staked. To sweeten the deal, Grachev announced that DWF Labs would be willing to purchase an additional 10 million NEAR tokens if the proposal to reduce inflation is implemented.

In response to Grachev’s proposal, Bowen Wang, a developer at Near Protocol, expressed support for the idea of decreasing inflation but highlighted that the final decision lies with the community. Wang noted that the current inflation rate serves as part of the incentive plan to attract more holders to stake NEAR tokens and help secure the protocol.

In the midst of the highly anticipated altseason of 2025, characterized by increasing institutional demand and a potential shift in Bitcoin dominance, NEAR’s price has shown bullish momentum. As a mid-cap altcoin with a fully diluted valuation of approximately $3.2 billion and a daily trading volume averaging around $186 million, NEAR has seen a 5 percent increase in value over the past week, reaching around $2.57 at the time of writing.

Technical analysis of NEAR’s price suggests that the cryptocurrency is on the verge of a significant breakthrough if it manages to consistently close above the established falling logarithmic trend. On a daily timeframe, NEAR’s price has formed a potential inverse head and shoulders pattern, indicating a bullish outlook in the near future.

Furthermore, the bullish sentiment is reinforced by the recent crossover of the weekly MACD line above the signal line, accompanied by growing bullish histograms. This positive price action has garnered attention from traders and analysts, with many closely monitoring NEAR’s performance for potential bullish trends.

In conclusion, Grachev’s proposal to reduce NEAR’s inflation rate has sparked discussions within the community, highlighting the importance of balancing economic incentives with long-term sustainability. As NEAR continues to attract attention in the crypto market, its price action and development decisions will be closely monitored by stakeholders and enthusiasts alike.
