X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, experienced a temporary outage on Saturday morning, affecting tens of thousands of users.
According to the analytics platform Downdetector, around 25,000 users encountered issues with the platform, with approximately 21,000 users reporting problems shortly after 8:30 a.m. ET.
The problems were mostly resolved by 10 a.m., although some users experienced intermittent issues until around 11 a.m.
This outage comes less than a week after X also faced technical difficulties on Thursday.
“As shown by the uptime problems this week, significant operational improvements are necessary,” Musk stated on X in response to the Saturday outage.
“The failover redundancy should have been effective, but it failed.”
“I’m back to working 24/7 and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” he added.
The billionaire entrepreneur, known for his companies Tesla and SpaceX, emphasized the need to stay focused due to critical technologies being developed.
X did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment regarding the outage. Further details on the cause of the issue were not provided.
Since Musk’s acquisition of X (formerly Twitter) in 2022, the platform has experienced several widespread outages.
In a previous outage in March, Musk attributed the issue to a “massive cyberattack.”
“We face attacks daily, but this one was particularly well-resourced,” Musk mentioned in a post at that time.
