Emily in Paris Director Diego Borella Dies on Set Filming in Italy
The entertainment industry is mourning the sudden loss of Diego Borella, a 47-year-old assistant director on Netflix’s popular series “Emily in Paris.” Borella tragically collapsed while filming Season 5 in Venice, Italy, on Thursday. The Paramount Television Studios confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement to Variety, expressing their condolences to Borella’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Borella, a locally hired Italian third assistant director, collapsed around 7:00 p.m. while the show was shooting a scene inside the Hotel Danieli in Venice. Despite efforts by medics on set to revive him, Borella was pronounced dead due to a sudden heart attack. Filming for Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” was temporarily halted after the incident and resumed on Saturday.
Netflix recently released first-look images and announced the premiere date for the upcoming season of “Emily in Paris.” Production for the show has taken place in various parts of Europe, starting in Rome in May, moving to Paris in June, and finally arriving in Venice in August.
The ensemble cast of Season 5 includes Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, and several other talented actors. Lily Collins not only stars in the series but also serves as a producer.
