Eric Swalwell Announces Run For California Governor
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) officially announced his candidacy for California governor during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Thursday. Swalwell, a longstanding congressman, emphasized the need for change in the state, citing high prices and widespread fear among residents.
In a statement on his website, Swalwell outlined his vision for the role of governor, which includes keeping former President Trump at bay and creating a more equitable California. He highlighted the disconnect between the state’s economic success and the struggles faced by many of its residents.
As a member of the Jan. 6 committee and a key figure in Trump’s first impeachment inquiry, Swalwell has been a vocal critic of the former president. His political stance has made him a target of the Justice Department, along with other prominent opponents of Trump.
