Ex-BBC Commissioner Aisling O’Connor Joins Film Soho

Film Soho Welcomes Aisling O’Connor as New Creative Director for Television

Film Soho, a leading entertainment company, has recently announced the appointment of Aisling O’Connor as its new creative director for television. With an impressive 29-year career at the BBC, O’Connor brings a wealth of experience to drive the company’s TV expansion strategy.

In her new role, O’Connor will be responsible for overseeing content development and strategic planning for Film Soho’s television operations. She will report directly to company co-founders Nick Hamson and Chris Greenhill as part of the senior leadership team.

“I’m thrilled to join Film Soho at such an exciting time for the group. With the company strategically positioned to develop innovative content and cutting-edge facilities like Soho’s first virtual production studio, I am eager to contribute to its growth,” O’Connor shared.

With a background in commissioning at the BBC, O’Connor is well-equipped to lead Film Soho’s production across multiple formats. During her tenure at the BBC, she held senior positions such as head of BBC England TV commissioning and interim lead on the prestigious Storyville documentary strand.

O’Connor’s commissioning portfolio includes a wide range of programming, from popular lifestyle shows like “Great British Menu” and “Bargain Hunt” to specialized content such as “Yorkshire Walks” and music programs like “U2: Innocence and Experience Live in Paris.” She also greenlit impactful documentaries like “Tish” by Paul Sng and “Twiggy” by Sadie Frost, both of which were produced by Film Soho.

Prior to her time at the BBC, O’Connor kickstarted her television career at London Weekend Television, gradually climbing the ranks over her 29-year tenure at the public broadcaster. Her experience spans across daytime programming, current affairs with shows like “Panorama,” and music and arts commissioning.

Nick Hamson, co-founder of Film Soho, expressed his excitement about O’Connor joining the team, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Aisling to the Film Soho team. Her knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we expand our presence in television production.”

In her new role, O’Connor will focus on developing programming that maximizes Film Soho’s integrated business model, which covers production through distribution. Operating as a vertically integrated entertainment company, Film Soho’s divisions include V Studio, a state-of-the-art virtual production facility with LED wall technology, and krADR, a leading ADR recording stage used by international studios.

With O’Connor at the helm of its television operations, Film Soho is poised for continued success and innovation in the ever-evolving entertainment industry.
