Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown arrested on attempted murder charge in Miami shooting

Antonio Brown, a former NFL star, has recently been arrested on an attempted murder charge following a shooting incident that occurred after a celebrity boxing event in Miami. The arrest was confirmed by Miami police spokesman Mike Vega, who stated that Brown, 37, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Dubai and subsequently transported to Essex County, New Jersey. He is currently being held there pending extradition to Miami.

The details surrounding the shooting indicate that Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer after the boxing match and fired two shots at a man with whom he had a prior altercation. The victim, identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, reported that one of the bullets grazed his neck. An arrest warrant has been issued for Brown, although it is unclear at this time whether he has legal representation. The timeline for his return to Miami remains uncertain.

If convicted of second-degree attempted murder, Brown could face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Despite his successful career in the NFL, which included stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown has faced multiple legal issues in the past. These include allegations of battery against a moving truck driver, domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support, and other incidents.

One of the most notorious incidents involving Brown occurred during a 2021 game against the New York Jets, where he infamously removed his jersey, shoulder pads, and gloves before running off the field. This behavior led to his release from the Buccaneers and effectively marked the end of his football career.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the sports world watches closely to see how the situation with Antonio Brown will develop. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing story.
