Ex-NFL star Greg Hardy collapses into corner during boxing match in scary scene

Former NFL player turned boxer Greg Hardy faced a frightening moment in the ring on Friday night when he suffered an asthma attack during a match in Russia. The 37-year-old Hardy, who had a successful NFL career with the Panthers and the Cowboys, was unable to continue the exhibition match against MMA fighter Evgeny Goncharov in Vologda, Russia.

After being released by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, Hardy transitioned to a fighting career, initially in the UFC with 13 bouts before moving to boxing in recent years. During the third round of his match against Goncharov, Hardy took several punches before collapsing in his corner. Medical personnel rushed to attend to him as he struggled to catch his breath.

In a video of the incident, Hardy could be heard asking for his asthma inhaler while seated on a stool. The fight was ultimately stopped as he was unable to continue due to the severity of the asthma attack. This unexpected turn of events left both Hardy and his fans concerned for his well-being.

Aside from his athletic career, Hardy has also faced legal troubles, including an arrest in June for assaulting a family member in Texas, which he vehemently denied. In the past, he was convicted of assaulting and threatening a woman in 2014, a conviction that was later overturned on appeal. Hardy was also arrested for cocaine possession in 2016.

Despite these challenges, Hardy had a successful NFL career after being drafted in the sixth round out of Mississippi. He made a Pro Bowl appearance in 2013 with the Carolina Panthers after recording 13 sacks in a standout season.

Overall, the incident in Russia serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of sports and the importance of prioritizing athletes’ health and well-being. Hardy’s asthma attack highlights the need for proper medical care and support for athletes, both during and after their careers.
