Ex-Oregon cop gets only 150 hours community service after soliciting sex from car crash victim: report

Former Oregon Police Officer Gets Slap on the Wrist for Soliciting Sex from Car Crash Victim

A former Oregon police officer, David McVeigh, is facing minimal consequences after soliciting sex from a car crash victim. The deal he struck allows him to perform 150 hours of community service by January in exchange for having the charges completely dropped, as reported by Oregon Live.

McVeigh, who was a former officer with the Milwaukie Police Department, responded to a 911 call of a crashed drunk driver on November 24, 2019. He took advantage of the situation and preyed on the unsuspecting female victim after giving her a courtesy ride to her apartment. Court records reviewed by the outlet revealed that McVeigh asked the woman for oral sex, to which she complied, believing it was a deal to avoid getting a ticket.

The same woman later disclosed the incident to authorities when she was arrested on unrelated domestic violence charges in 2021. She mentioned having a sexual encounter with an on-duty officer named “David” two years prior.

In 2022, McVeigh raised suspicions when he was accused of “stalking” a woman in the parking lot of the Spirit Mountain Casino. Further investigation revealed that the woman still had McVeigh’s personal cellphone, and dispatch records supported her account.

McVeigh was ultimately fired in 2023 after criminal charges were brought against him. As part of the agreement, he must surrender his law enforcement badge permanently and complete 150 hours of community service by January 2026 to have the charges dismissed.
