Upon arrival, the Wichita Police Department found Mock waiting outside with bloody cuts on her hands. Inside the home, Mock’s mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, was discovered unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Avers tragically succumbed to her injuries just 30 minutes later.
Mock was promptly taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond at the Sedgwick County Jail. After a two-year hiatus from the workforce, Mock joined a data management company with offices across the Midwest, including one in Wichita.
