Officer Thomas Bucholz Named Midtown South Precinct’s “Officer of the Year”

Officer Thomas Bucholz, a new dad, was recently honored with the title of “Officer of the Year” at the Midtown South Precinct. The prestigious award was presented to him at the Safe City Safe Streets Luncheon held at the Manhattan Penthouse. Surrounded by colleagues and loved ones, including his two-month-old daughter, Bucholz graciously accepted the recognition, which he dedicated to his fellow officers.

Having been a part of the NYPD for nearly a decade, Bucholz expressed his gratitude for the honor, emphasizing the collective effort of everyone in the precinct to serve the community. He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of his colleagues in ensuring the safety and well-being of the people in Midtown.

Among the recipients of the “Officer of the Year” award from different precincts in Manhattan were Bucholz, Jennifer Paolino, Christian Orellana, and Michael Dejesus, representing the 6th, 10th, and 13th precincts, respectively.

Bucholz’s standout achievement that earned him the award was his quick action in apprehending a criminal who fled the scene of a serious crash in September. The perpetrator was found with a cache of drugs and weapons in his possession, including a defaced assault rifle and a loaded handgun.

Throughout his nine-year tenure with the NYPD, Bucholz has dedicated his service to Midtown South, where he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to protecting and serving the community.

Since welcoming his daughter Scarlett with his wife Meghan, Bucholz has set his sights on further career advancement within the NYPD. His aspiration is to become a detective, a goal he is determined to pursue diligently.

The recognition of Officer Thomas Bucholz as the “Officer of the Year” highlights not only his individual accomplishments but also the collective efforts of law enforcement officers in ensuring the safety and security of the community they serve.
