Fallon Revs Up ‘Tonight Show’ for Detroit

Jimmy Fallon is gearing up to take NBC’s “Tonight Show” to Detroit for a special episode, adding to a series of non-traditional broadcasts planned for the fall season. The late-night host will be filming an episode at the Detroit Opera House on Sunday, September 14, with the episode set to air on NBC the following night, September 15. Ford Motor Co., a longtime sponsor of “Tonight,” will be supporting this special broadcast, showcasing their continued support for the facility and its arts mission over the past two decades.

In addition to the Detroit episode, Fallon is also preparing for special broadcasts of “Tonight” that will air on Sunday nights following NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” and late local news on its various affiliates. These special editions will be aired once a month, starting on September 21, with guests like Matthew McConaughey and Eric Church already lined up.

This isn’t the first time Fallon has taken the show on the road for special broadcasts. Last year, he hosted a unique “Tonight Show” episode in Minneapolis following NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl LII. Other late-night hosts have also followed suit, with CBS airing special editions of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “After Midnight” after the network’s broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Chris Miller and Gerard Bradford, with Miller serving as the show’s showrunner. Typically, “The Tonight Show” tapes before a live studio audience from Studio 6B in 30 Rockefeller Center.

Stay tuned for these special episodes of “The Tonight Show” as Jimmy Fallon brings his signature humor and charm to new locations, promising an entertaining and unforgettable viewing experience for fans.
