Family of 4, including 2 young kids, killed in North Carolina plane crash
A tragic incident occurred in North Carolina when a family of four perished in a small plane crash. Travis Buchanan, 35, his wife Candace Buchanan, 35, and their children Aubrey, 10, and Walker, 9, lost their lives when their Cirrus SR22 aircraft crashed in a rural area of Lee County. The accident took place not far from the Raleigh Executive Jetport around 2 p.m. on Monday, as reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The devastating crash resulted in the deaths of three family members at the scene, while a fourth member was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Aerial footage captured the aftermath of the crash, showing the plane completely destroyed in a wide-open field surrounded by emergency responders.
The exact details of the flight’s origin and destination were not disclosed by officials. However, a staff member at the family’s farm revealed that they were returning from a beach trip. The Buchanans were well-known in their community, with Abraham Garcia, who worked for them at Buchanan Farms in Sanford, expressing how the family had helped him regularly over the years.
Both Aubrey and Walker were students at Grace Christian School in Sanford. Aubrey was set to enter fifth grade, while Walker was preparing for fourth grade. The school shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, expressing their support for the family and the entire school community during this difficult time.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have initiated investigations to determine the cause of the tragic plane crash. As the community mourns the loss of the Buchanan family, they come together to offer love, prayers, and condolences to their loved ones, friends, classmates, teachers, and school staff.
