Father charged with killing convict who molested his relative gives stunning jailhouse confession

Nicholas Stanley, a 35-year-old father from Indiana, made headlines when he confessed to the murder of Allen Cogswell, a man convicted of molesting one of his family members. In a shocking jailhouse interview with ABC57 News, Stanley showed no remorse for his actions, stating, “I did what I had to.”

The incident took place at a Daylite Inn in Indiana, where Stanley confronted Cogswell and fatally shot him in the head and chest. Stanley had been fixated on Cogswell for years and when he was released from prison after serving seven years for his crimes, Stanley took matters into his own hands.

During the interview, conducted via remote video visitation at the Elkhart County Jail where Stanley is being held without bond, reporter Annie Kate warned him that everything he said would be on the record. Despite this, Stanley openly admitted to the murder, claiming he had been on a mission to seek revenge against Cogswell.

Stanley expressed his frustration with the justice system, stating that he was tired of living in fear while Cogswell was free to roam. He acknowledged that he would face a minimum of 45 years in prison if convicted, but seemed resigned to his fate, stating, “If the system wants to throw me away, let them. I don’t even care anymore.”

In a heartbreaking moment, Stanley sent a message to his family, expressing his love for them and urging them to live their lives to the fullest despite his actions. He expressed his regret for missing out on his children’s lives and encouraged them to stay strong.

The case of Nicholas Stanley highlights the complexities of justice and the lengths to which a parent will go to protect their family. While his actions may have been extreme, Stanley’s unwavering dedication to his loved ones is a testament to the power of familial bonds.
