Father-to-be killed with single punch in Arizona bar fight just weeks before son’s birth
A tragic incident unfolded outside a bar in Arizona, where a father-to-be was killed with a single punch in a brawl just weeks before his baby was due. Thomas John “TJ” Pizzitola, aged 29, was found unconscious on the sidewalk outside a bar in Scottsdale around 2:15 a.m. on October 11, as reported by the Scottsdale Police Department.
The unfortunate altercation began when Pizzitola and two friends were asked to leave Pattie’s First Avenue Lounge due to their rowdy behavior. Once outside, an argument ensued after one of Pizzitola’s friends accidentally bumped into a woman, court records obtained by Fox10 revealed. This altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight involving five suspects.
During the scuffle, 24-year-old Drew Meneses allegedly delivered a fatal blow to Pizzitola, causing him to sustain a fatal brain injury. The impact of the punch was severe enough to render Pizzitola unconscious, leading to his untimely death despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Subsequently, the five suspects involved in the deadly altercation, namely Julia Husser, Krista Molina, Tony Becker, Mark Whitford, and Drew Meneses, were arrested in connection with the incident. Meneses faces second-degree murder charges, while the rest of the individuals were charged with varying degrees of assault.
A GoFundMe page was set up for Pizzitola, who was expecting a child with his wife Krisan in just a few weeks. Tragically, Pizzitola’s final message to his wife expressed pride and love for her, moments before the fatal incident occurred. Krisan, devastated by the loss of her husband, rushed to the hospital upon learning of his location change, only to be faced with the heartbreaking reality of his passing.
Despite the tragedy, Pizzitola’s legacy lives on through his decision to donate his organs, saving the lives of five individuals in need. The community rallied around Krisan and her unborn child, raising over $76,000 towards their $85,000 goal on the GoFundMe page.
During a court hearing, Meneses expressed remorse for his actions, attributing the incident to a “bad night” with no malicious intent. He is currently held on a $1 million bail pending further legal proceedings.
The loss of Pizzitola serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violence, leaving behind a grieving widow and an unborn child. The community’s support and generosity towards Krisan and her child offer a glimmer of hope in the face of tragedy, emphasizing the importance of unity and compassion in times of adversity.
