FCC Chairman Reposts Donald Trump’s Call for NBC to Fire Seth Meyers
FCC Chairman Backs Trump’s Demand to Fire Seth Meyers from NBC
Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, recently showed support for former President Donald Trump’s call for NBC to fire late-night host Seth Meyers. Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to criticize Meyers, accusing him of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and lacking talent, urging NBC to terminate his employment immediately.
Meyers had been targeting Trump in his monologues, mocking various aspects of the former president’s policies and controversies, including health care, government shutdowns, and meetings with finance executives.
Shortly after Trump’s post, Carr echoed the sentiment by sharing the message on his own platform.
While Carr did not provide a direct comment on the situation, his public support for Trump’s demand aligns with his previous actions. In a recent podcast appearance, Carr hinted at potential FCC intervention in response to controversial remarks made by late-night hosts, indicating that there are measures the FCC can take to address such issues.
Following Carr’s statements, broadcasting networks Nexstar and Sinclair opted to temporarily suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from their affiliate groups in response to comments made by host Jimmy Kimmel. However, the show eventually returned to air after a brief hiatus.
