Felon briefly detained in SWAT raid denies ties to Nancy Guthrie kidnapping
A recent SWAT raid in Tucson, Arizona, involving a convicted felon and his mother has raised suspicions in the case of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Luke Daley, 37, and his 77-year-old mother were detained during the raid, which took place just two miles from where Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her home on February 1.
Daley’s attorney, Chris Scileppi, confirmed that Daley and his mother were detained but denied any connection to Guthrie’s disappearance. Daley, who has a criminal history including drug-related convictions, served time in prison and was recently convicted for selling drugs. Despite his past brushes with the law, Scileppi emphasized that Daley has no information related to Guthrie’s kidnapping and hopes for her safe return.
The search for Guthrie has been ongoing for three weeks, with investigators yet to identify any suspects in the case. DNA evidence collected from Guthrie’s home and a black glove found nearby have been entered into the FBI’s database for potential matches. Daley’s DNA would be included in the database due to his criminal history, but no matches have been confirmed so far.
In a recent development, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department uncovered new biological evidence during a search of the house where Guthrie was believed to have been kidnapped. DNA profiles from this evidence are currently under lab analysis, raising hopes of a breakthrough in the case.
Despite the intense scrutiny surrounding Daley and his mother following the SWAT raid, they maintain their innocence and lack of involvement in Guthrie’s disappearance. As the investigation continues, the Tucson community remains on edge, hoping for answers and the safe return of Nancy Guthrie.
