Fetterman's chief of staff leaves amid string of departures
Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman’s Chief of Staff Steps Down
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania is facing yet another key departure from his congressional office, as Krysta Sinclair Juris, his chief of staff, has announced her plans to leave. This move comes amidst a backdrop of turnover within the office, as questions about the senator’s health and evolving political image continue to mount.
According to a report by Axios, Juris will be parting ways with Fetterman’s office, marking a significant change in his staff lineup. In response to this development, Cabelle St. John, who previously held roles as Fetterman’s deputy chief of staff, senior adviser, and scheduling director, is set to assume the position of his new chief of staff.
In a statement, Fetterman expressed his confidence in St. John, stating, “Cabelle St. John has been a trusted advisor since day 1 in the office. I’m lucky to have her taking over as my Chief of Staff and I’m confident she’ll do a great job. I’m grateful for Krysta’s work. She’s been an invaluable member of the team for over two years and I wish her all the best.”
Over the past year and a half, Fetterman’s office has seen the departure of key figures such as his former chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, top communications aides, and legislative director. Recent months have also seen two more aides leaving the senator’s team, adding to the wave of changes within his office.
During a debate with Senator Dave McCormick in Boston, Fetterman addressed criticisms regarding his attendance record and committee hearings, dismissing them as a “weird smear.” He also pushed back against a New York magazine article that raised concerns about his health, labeling it as a “one-source hit piece.”
Defending his record, Fetterman emphasized his commitment to his duties, stating, “I’m here. I’m doing that job. For me, if I miss some of those votes — I mean some of those votes — I’ve made 90 percent of them and, and we all know those votes that I’ve missed were on Monday; those are travel days, and I have three young kids, and I — those are throwaway procedural votes. … That’s a choice that I made, and if you want to attack me for that, go ahead.”
Aside from concerns surrounding his health, former staffers have also expressed frustration over Fetterman’s staunch support of Israel and his recent meeting with former President Donald Trump, highlighting the complexity of his political positions.
