World champion figure skater Alysa Liu has made the difficult decision to distance herself from D4vd following an investigation into the tragic death of Celeste Rivas. Liu recently announced that she will be scrapping her newly debuted short program due to the singer’s song being featured in the routine.
The talented 2022 Olympian shared this update with her fans on Wednesday, revealing that she will be putting her planned routine for the 2025-26 season on hold “in light of recent news.”
Footage from the 2025 Lombardia Trophy in Italy earlier this month showed Liu performing the short program, which was set to D4vd and Laufey‘s “This Is How It Feels.” She had won the short program at the competition with this routine.
Liu expressed that she and her team are now exploring a different direction that aligns more closely with her values and overall ethos. She emphasized the importance of taking the time to plan a new program that truly reflects her artistic vision, rather than rushing the creative process.
In the meantime, Liu hinted that fans may see some familiar programs from her as she works on developing a new routine. She thanked her supporters for their ongoing encouragement and understanding during this transitional period.
The decision to distance herself from D4vd comes in the wake of intense media scrutiny surrounding the singer after the tragic death of 15-year-old Rivas, who was found in a Tesla registered under D4vd’s name. While authorities have searched D4vd’s home, he has not been named as a suspect in the case.
It is clear that Alysa Liu is prioritizing her values and artistic integrity as she navigates this challenging situation, and her fans are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of her new routine in the near future.
