FilMart 2026 Sets the Stage for AI, Short Dramas and New Asian Markets
Hong Kong’s FilMart, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), continues to hold its position as the anchor of Asia’s screen industry. For over three decades, this event has been the premier marketplace for film and television content in Asia, attracting global producers, distributors, and innovators.
This year, FilMart reflects the evolving landscape of the industry. New technologies are reshaping the production process, storytelling formats are evolving rapidly, and a new generation of producers is seeking international collaborations.
Candas Yeung, associate director of service promotion at HKTDC, expresses optimism about the industry’s response to this year’s event. With over 790 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, FilMart continues to draw strong global participation.
The exhibition floor at FilMart showcases a diverse lineup, featuring over 30 group pavilions from the Chinese Mainland and key international territories. Major markets like France, the U.K., the U.S., and Korea are well represented, along with a significant presence from Asian countries.
Emerging markets are making their mark at FilMart, introducing fresh content, perspectives, and creative energy. Established players are leveraging the event to secure distribution and financing deals.
Asian markets are asserting themselves as creative powerhouses, bridging the gap between East and West. Industry bodies and companies from Cambodia, the Chinese Mainland, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand are hosting events to showcase their content and production incentives, highlighting the region’s growing influence in global content creation.
Technology remains at the forefront of FilMart, with the AI Hub returning on a larger scale. The newly launched AI Academy, backed by CCIDA and the Film Development Fund, offers hands-on workshops to empower filmmakers and producers with the skills needed to navigate the changing landscape.
Short-form storytelling is another focus at FilMart, with the International Short Drama Association debuting a dedicated pavilion. A symposium on short dramas and AI in content creation highlights the industry’s exploration of new formats and technologies.
The Producers Connect program, now in its second edition, brings together local and international producers alongside leading global film institutions. Networking opportunities, masterclasses, and a Producers Resource Guide provide practical insights into global funding and partnership opportunities.
FilMart continues to serve as a platform for emerging talent to connect with industry leaders, turning creativity into international success. The event remains a vital hub for the industry to explore new opportunities and collaborations.
