Ford recalling some 413,000 Explorers due to potential steering control loss
Ford Recalls Nearly 413,000 Explorers Over Steering Defect
Ford has issued a recall for almost 413,000 Explorer SUVs manufactured between 2017 and 2019. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified a defect in the rear suspensions of these vehicles that could potentially cause drivers to lose steering control.
The NHTSA has pinpointed the issue to toe links in the rear suspension that may fracture, leading to a loss of steering control. This poses a significant safety risk for drivers and passengers of the affected vehicles.
As part of the recall, Ford dealers will replace the toe links at no cost to the owners. Letters informing owners about the recall are scheduled to be sent out on March 9. If you own one of the affected Ford Explorers, you can contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 for further assistance.
