Ford recalls more than 740,000 vehicles over camera display, steering and seatbelt issues

Ford has issued a massive recall affecting nearly 750,000 vehicles due to camera display, steering, and seatbelt issues, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Camera Display

Over 290,000 vehicles in the U.S. are being recalled by Ford for a rearview camera display problem, according to the NHTSA. The recall notice, dated October 10, states that the 360-degree camera system in certain Ford models may not properly display rearview images in specific lighting conditions, posing a risk of accidents.

The recall includes select 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models. Ford dealers will update the image processing module software for free to address the issue.

Ford’s recall number for this issue is 25SA8, while NHTSA’s number is 25V-686. This marks the third rearview camera-related recall by Ford this year, with previous recalls in May and July affecting over 1.1 million vehicles.

Steering Issues

In addition to the camera problem, Ford is recalling 115,539 vehicles from the Super Duty truck lineup due to a potential loss of steering issue. The NHTSA reported that the steering column upper shaft could detach from the steering column, leading to a loss of steering control and an increased crash risk.

Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the upper shaft as necessary for affected 2020-2021 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models. Owners will receive notification letters, and a final remedy is expected by December 2025.

Ford’s recall number for the steering issue is 25S94, with NHTSA’s number listed as 25V-626.

Seatbelt Issue

Another recall affecting 332,778 Ford vehicles addresses a seatbelt problem caused by corroded cables. When these cables break, the seat belt may fail to restrain the wearer during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The recall involves certain 2015-2017 Mustang models.

Dealers will inspect and replace the front seat belt cables at no cost to ensure vehicle safety. Owners can expect to receive notification letters this month, with remedy letters scheduled for January.

Ford’s recall number for the seatbelt issue is 25S92, and NHTSA’s number is 25V-614.
